Costa del Sol/Coin

The Roman mountain town of Coín lies directly inland from Marbella in the valley of Rio Grande.

Today the town has become popular with foreign residents however it still retains it´s traditional values and is certainly one of the more ´Spanish´ towns on the Coast.

This area has become increasingly popular largely due to the new road making it easily accessible to the coast, the beautiful mountain views and of course the fact that house prices are still much lower prices than the coast!

The contrast here between coast and country is very evident when you visit somewhere like Coin. Gone is the endless tourist trade of the coast and instead visiters will immediately appreciate a taste of the real Spain with it´s slower pace of life and back to basics ideals.

Coín´s growing population has led to an influx of modern amenities The Tower of the Trinitarians in Coin however combined with the traditional street markets and dozens of small family shops hidden away down side streets, the traditional Spanish town is still there for all to see.

However if you are looking for a more modern shopping experience then the new La Trocha commercial centre is worth a visit. For those content to sit and while away time then there is nowhere nicer than the town?s traditional plaza which houses the Town Hall and is an unofficial meeting place for locals and tourists alike!


Coin boasts an excellent selection of tapas bars and restaurants. Whether you are looking to move to a Spanish town or simply visiting the Costa del Sol, Coin should certainly be on your list of places to visit!
